Me, a missionary?FB Cause photo

I’ve been a pastor for 20 years. I’ve led several short-term missions trips. I’ve encouraged others as they’ve left the local church to follow a call to some far off mission field. It has been very satisfying and fulfilling to lead a church that is so missions minded.

Then God called me and my family. It was an unanticipated, radical call to a place I’d never heard of and the type of ministry I’ve never considered – a girls’ home. In May of 2011, we moved to Arequipa, Peru, to serve at the Torre Fuerte home for girls.  My wife and I work with the girls there, helping to guide them in their spiritual growth and discipleship. We enjoy our work here, which is direct and personal rather than administrative. We are involved in the lives of these children, guiding, teaching, playing, and even parenting to some degree.

I’ll be sharing our story, and progress toward fulfilling the call, in our adventures in Peru. I’m glad to have you along.

    Scott,
I love this! You are doing a great work! Thanks for sharing your story on this website, I am only sorry it took me so long to figure out where you went and why.
    Peace,

Thanks Paul, we left kind of suddenly and without any fanfare across the district. We’ve been involved in the local independent church here as well as the very new South Peru district Church of the Nazarene, where I now hold my credentials as an assistant pastor. I’ve been able to do some Spanish language preaching, teaching, and even a couple of seminary classes for our many pastors in training.
All in all it’s just a great adventure and an opportunity every day to make a difference.
